Almost two weeks ago I took some photos around town while waiting for the independence parade to pass through. While testing my settings to figure out how best to go about handling this parade I took a few shots of my surroundings. I think some of them turned out ok so I thought I’d share.
I saw our tourist industry at work at a low level. Some visitors were relaxing on a catamaran in the Careenage, presumably waiting on the parade like I was. I also saw this scene:
I watched a heavy looking couple wander around looking very lost and this guy rides up to them offering to take them to wherever they were going, Chinese style. After a few mins of negotiating the couple got in the back of the tricycle and they all rode off into the distance. Some time later, the tricycle reappeared bearing the same passengers and the driver looked like he could really use a cold drink. I just thought is was interesting because as I mentioned in my last post it was HOT!!!
I’ve always wanted to try my hand at street photography but around here, there’s no telling how people will react when they realise that you’ve taken an unsolicited photo of them. In the past, persons have asked me for money before I photographed them and even quoted non-existent laws in an attempt to convince me to delete any photos that I’ve taken. In any case I plan on taking my camera into town again on a more busy day and see what I can come up with.
