On Wednesday I went to HoneyJam @ the Hall in Frank Collymore Hall, Bridgetown. I only found out about it the night before and I didn’t even think I would be able to make it until that morning. In any case it was a great show. My only regret was that I got there late. Why did I get there late you ask? Well the thing is I got there on time but as I parked my car in the very last available parking spot I realised that I forgot my camera in my office across town. So I literally ran across town and back for my camera… sigh.
What I did catch was a showcase of amazing female talent. Mandy Cummins sang an original song while playing the guitar. There was Gigi Ma’at, she stood out with her awesome voice and a sense of style to match. Oneka Best did a very artistic piece that involved dance, action drawing and even drum playing. Sasky brought a little bit of church into the house and Betty Payne sang an original song. She made sounding good look effortless. Nikki Nicole brought down the house especially with her tribute to Whitney Houston. There was also Christal Austin and iNDRANi, both very talented singers. The hall was packed and I saw a lot of people that are big in the music and arts industry in the audience. It was a successful show in my book.
I think that the full show will be held later this year, probably in October or November. I’ve missed the first HoneyJam in February last year, I don’t think I want to miss it again this year. Website is here: http://www.honeyjambarbados.com/
As usual, getting photos was a bit of a challenge. Since I got there so late there wasn’t much space in the front for me, so I had to sit a few rows back trying to avoid having people block my view. I think I did ok. What do you think?
